Mental Diary of My Love: Fight or Take Flight?
[font=Tahoma,Geneva][font=Georgia]Never realized triangles were such dangerous shapes
Especially one’s of love.
I forced my lover and my best friend on this plane,
The United Airlines flight 175.
I would DIE if I had to choose just one,
So I brought them both.
While the love for my first is strong, like Teflon,
My feelings for my best friend are as thick as a foreign accent.
To other, the solution was plane to see,
But I’m blind to my own situation.
I cry when the craziness no longer creeps,
But begins to cramp my space and create unwanted problems.
Hearts start beating loud;
A drum line in progress.
My eyes are darts,
Aiming for the emergency exit, preparing.
A metaphorical rainstorm rages in, foreshadowing a tragedy.
My mama always told me I’m a diamond in the rough.
I try to use the rags I grew up in
To buffer and shine the edges of our rugged hearts
Like brave warriors,
Both decide to stay and fight the feelings
That take the form of terrorists,
Through the heat, the smoke, the pain, and the tears
It’s crazy.
It’s madness.
I did not plan to crash, but to land,
But it’s all gone out of hand.
I was too busy
Dragging my feet through the sand.
Instead of daydreaming,
I should have ran.
I have bags under my eyes
That are so big,
I could just get in
And pack myself away.
As we’re being delivered
To our final destination,
I consider a little thought:
Kill the bitterness before it kills us.
I speak to them but I only hear my voice.
I say,
“Promise me that you will always be there for me,
That you will always love me,
“Never think any less of me,
Try not to judge me,
Think of me,
Forgive me.”
I never imagined
This flight would go so wrong.
I never imagined
We’d fly with so much baggage.
I never imagined
I’d cause this much trouble.
I never imagined
The possibility of having to give a final goodbye.
Now’s the time to make a decision ….. fight or take flight ?
