Play Misty for Me (haiku)
Come away with me
once more to the rainforest
on a cloudy day
From a hidden beach
through a forest dark and deep
mysteries are revealed
Gently take my hand
for the path is slick and steep
though I know the way
Spare young fairy ferns
who know nothing of footpaths
through ancient forests
Just follow my lead
traverse tangled twists and turns
on damp stepping stones
Avoid devils club
green inviting leaves that sting
lush, but do not touch
Stop and rest awhile
on spacious carpets of moss
sheltered in my arms
Sip raspberry tea
salty crackers, cheese and me
you deserve a feast
Hear humming nearby
trust me, we are almost there
hawks soar beneath us
Step through the forest
sapphire shimmers before us
embrace paradise
High above the spray
great treasure cascades away
play misty for me.

I lay speechless under your Crimson Sky wishing I had the wherewithal to offer healing answers to fathomless questions, cogent remedies soaked in soothing pultices of freshly ground raspberry leaves and native herbs to to mend your ills. Sometimes, dear friend, no words suffice...

All the Japanese short forms interest me, so last year I studied and asked questions and read and read and eventually wrote a few... I am so in awe of poets who write succinctly what takes me literally volumes. I'd bet you would create marvelous haiku. Thank you so much, my friend.

Good for you... there are many neat tid-bits of information here and there on the internet and you'll find the form(s) to be quite flexible and fascinating to play around with. Enjoy!!! :-)

I found my forays into haiku and senryu to be so entertaining, and quite a positive learning experience as well. Make every word count, eh?
Thank you so much, my friend. Best wishes, Mary Ann
