The Long Soft Kiss

A simple question it was:
Do you mind if I kiss you?
A journey became the answer.

Her red flavoured lips beckoned to be caressed,
I stood forever still,
Anticipating what was to be.

As she approached ever so slowly,
Our breaths were drawn,
Life never felt so simple,
When our lips touched,
The softest kiss it came to be,

The softness of her lips so unexpected,
I did not move,
For fear the bond sealing us would dissolve,
And all would be lost.

Time stopped,
Our joined lips quivered ever so gently,
It was not the end,
For the journey was yet to begin.

The kiss continued...
Lost within her I became,
As my eyes closed,
Darkness befell me,
I no longer was.

As I slowly awakened into life
And began to breathe,
She pulled back.
Disbelief reined in our eyes,
What had just happened?
Was our only thought.

At that very moment our separate beings
had found their missing half.
Our hearts had joined as one,
Joined by the long soft kiss,
Our journey together had begun...
