LOCKED UP MOMMY
The truth is when you're out there living
Always taking... never giving.
Getting caught up from day to day...
in a bunch of he say she say
Cursing your children and chasing your man
You never thought it would get out of hand
You never dreamed there would come the day
When the Feds would be hauling you away
Wait a minute! you said...I"m just his girl
But that doesn't matter in this cruel world
You were by his side and that's for real
So according to them ...you knew the deal
Your brand new truck... your big screen T.V
Makes you his partner... in conspiracy
That word alone... makes your breath blow short
Now your out on bond... going to court
Thinking how in the world... could this happen to me
Should I take it to trial... or cop a plea
Now no one is calling you... on the phone
Your boyfriend has ran... and you're all alone
You used to have friends... like a dog has fleas
Now they're calling you "HOT"... like it's a deadly disease
And when you go out now... people seem dry
You say "what's up K.C" ... and he barely says Hi
Then reality hits... and your heart races
Now you look in your kids'... innocent faces
You take a deep breath... and hold back the tears
Thinking "who can I trust"... "to keep them for years"
Who's gonna love them... and always be there
Then along comes Grandma... to answer your prayer
Now you feel strong and ready to go...
Then sentencing comes before you know
You stand before the judge... and your face shows your fears
But he shows you no emotion... as he tells you "Five Years"
You try to imagine... being locked up that long
You think of your kids... and try to be strong
But that first night in prison... it all becomes real
There are no words explaining... the pain you feel
Because on the streets... you had so much clout
But now you're in here... and there's no coming out
You feel so lost... and all alone
The first thing you do... is run to the phone
Who can you call... to make you feel better
Who'll send you money... or write you a letter
You call everyone you know... around the clock
But all their phones... have a block
So you write them all letters... and then you wait
A return letter you.... anticipate
But every day... at the end of mail call
You walk away sad... with no letters at all
Then you think to yourself... how can this be
When everyone used to ... flock around me
Everyone used to... ride in my car
And come to my house... I felt like a star
They used to stick to me... like bees to honey
Especially the ones... I used to give money
Now what has happened... to all of my fame
Has everyone... forgotten my name
Then one day as you ... sit at mail call
As usual... expecting nothing at all
You recieve a card... and your tears run like water
It reads "I love you Mommy"... from your sweet little daughter
And as you wipe the teardrops... from your eyes
Then suddenly... you realize
That all that timee ... you pushed her aside
You really should have... been her guide
But the Lord works... in mysterious ways
And now you look forward... to better days
Now you see... you're not alone
You have your kids... and one day you'll be home
And when you do ... you'll never fuss
Never argue... never cuss
You'll just hold them tight...and show them love
And teach them about... Father above
Because now you see the wrong... in what you did
But Thank You Lord...FOR MY KIDS!!
Always taking... never giving.
Getting caught up from day to day...
in a bunch of he say she say
