PLAY ME SOMETHING...
"Play me something sad"she said.
My fingers have been fused to the same keys for hours.
Nodding into nightmares between the minutes.
"Write a song about me"she spoke again.
She hadn't any idea that I had hundreds already.
Pages scribbled of doubt, and fear, and anger...
Misplaced of course.
I tapped the ivory of the highest pitch.
Gently...
Repetitive...
Her eyes lingering on me.
"You're high"she mumbled,and turned to her book.
"Why not play me something?"I sharply returned.
It is something I've always wished.
To hear the melancholy voice of a woman,
singing about how much she loves me,
Or how I broke her heart.
I was long overdue.
I've never had a chance to break a heart.
She stood up as tracers followed her to my side.
Blue light painted the walls.
Shadows spun ballet.
Sitting down at my side,
she put her head on my shoulder,
placed her hand on mine,
and whispered"how about this?"
The weight of her hand, pressed a single note.
She then planted a soft kiss on my neck,
and I must say...
It was the most beautiful song I have ever heard.
