Darkness From Within

 
 
scrape away the scabs of memory  
all that will ever remain with you  
get the jist of the passing times  
that has so easily left you behind  
 
time passes by pretending nothing  
hiding deepening thoughts away  
a mask of lies, so hard to breathe  
continuing to suffocate everyone  
 
listening to the quiet screams  
calling from beneath the metal heart  
an eaden that's only a cage of lies  
nevermore have the tides changed  
 
the tables turn slowly, getting bored  
slowly starting an invisible war  
breathe with me, a frozen gasp  
but with every shout I want it more  
 
eating us from a deep within  
can we not stop this monster's sin  
ticking on the clock has gotten slow  
repeating the same damn mistakes  
 
nothing moves on from a path that is wrong  
walks us into nevermore, into scorn  
ignore the rope to false hope that dangles  
never give in, be yourself, smile from within
