Man in the moon
I loved you deeply, completely,
to the moon and back,
but in an instant, you left me broken.
I felt my heart crack,
break,
then shatter.
Did it matter?
Your decision made,
in haste?
A stream of words so poison laced,
yet so deftly placed,
and I was dead to you,
a whore,
the outcome maybe you had been searching for.
On that assumption our love ended,
for reasons I could have easily defended.
The point was missed,
our fate was kissed,
in final sad goodbye
true love so quickly cut and dried,
and yes, of course I cried.
For the fatality of us?
Or the lack of chance to discuss?
I don't know,
it was so long ago,
Yet, still I miss you.
