Societies Acceptance
It's pathetic isn't it. The way people harms themselves. The way we cut. The reason for it seems uncomprehendable to some and to others it seems like a weak aversion of pain. There are some who "get it". They understand the reasoning and logic behind it. Perhaps not logic but rather the point behind it.
However sometimes there is no reason behind it. No logical way to explain why the actions taken against ones body are done. Or there is no way to explain why a person would do that. No way to say it'll be okay and that the actions taken were meant to happen.
And yet it happens.
Those who cannot fathom the idea stay out of the way. They become unaware of scars made on a stomach or chest or arm or leg. Unaware or bruises, burns, cuts or blood. Unaware that the person they think is beautiful, funny and smart is actually crying on the inside, hiding thoughts and covering scars. If she explained them she would be misunderstood and outcasted by those with minds who believe it inhuman to harm ones own body.
So the lovely girl, that amazing friend and that academically inclined person hides the fact that she's a mentally unsound freak with scars all over her body. The girl believed to be perfect is quite the opposite. The girl with the slender legs and hourglass figure cries when she looks in a mirror because she's got scars all over her body and fresh cuts over the old. Her beautiful grey eyes turn the brightest blue when the undertones become red from her tears. When she comes to school crying everyone asks why. What can she tell them? She's fine. If she told the truth then what'd happen? Explain how she is full of self hatred and she wants to mark her grotesque body with scars? But she can't tell anyone that.
She gives the "acceptable" answer.
