The Chained Door

The Chained Door
“The sequel of ‘Stuck’”
By Ashraf Hamed

“There is more to come” echoed the voice as we left into the sunset

As we walked into the ever so wonderful sunset.
We left that dreadful city behind
Discovering a wonderful meadow
Where the cricket sound was so ever like the nights in the summer
Where the smell of fresh flowers blew through the air
Where it brought inner peace and happiness

The clown and I played in the meadow
We started with tag, and after we fell to the ground laughing
We began hide and go seek
When we did, trees grew from the ground, and they were as tall as the sky itself
We continued with that game, until I got hurt.  I tried to be a big boy, but I couldn’t hold
I cried, and cried.  Until the clown found me.
He picked me up, and the trees faded away.
He took me to a swing, made out of bark and vines.
I couldn’t see where the vines were wrapped around, but I didn’t care
I swung, and swung for hours it felt like forever has passed.
Then we fell to the ground, with our lungs gasping for the next breath

Then I noticed something in the distance.
I asked the clown “What is that mountain”?
He looked upset that I have seen it, but he had to choice to answer
“Ash, It is a horrible place, where young children like yourself shouldn’t go”
I told him I wanted to see, but he refused.  He said
“It is a place where evil lies, and chains of tears contain.  If you are wish to see it….”
But before he could finish, I was running through the meadow toward the mountain.

As running, I noticed the mountain looked like a worm
But as I advanced I notice it was in the shape of a snake
“Ash!  Ash!” Yelled the clown, hoping I would be frightened and run to him.  I continued
I arrived at the mountain, and the clown caught up.  I was in more of shock of what I saw.
A Chained door.  I repeated “It is a place where evil lies, and chains of tears contain”
He grabbed my hand, and as we continued on, I heard a cough
I pulled away from him, and ran toward the door.
I screamed to the clown to help the person inside, but he told me he couldn’t
But I could

He lifted me on his shoulder, and I looked through the slot inside.
I see all around serpents, hissing and slithering around the ground
I could see more chains wrapped around someone in the middle.
I yelled to the person if I could help.  The person looked up from the darkness
Then the light of the sun came out, and from a little crack in the mountain
Came light inside the room, where I saw long black hair, a skinny figure
I repeated myself, he finally looked up, and he looked at me.
His hair went in front of half of his face, and I saw a snake eye for his pupil
I was frightened, and the clown pulled me down

He asked, if I wanted to help him still
I said “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”
He laughed, and ruffled my hair.
He then told me “No matter what he tries to persuade, don’t give in to him
Stand strong, and sew your will of not giving in.  Always remember that Ash”
I agreed.
I opened the door, and let in the light.
