Grandma

My Grandma was a lovely girl
tea cosy on head and strings of pearl
what made her so bloody grand
was that she was never bland
laughe n smiled all day long
to that Liverpool sixties song

The Beatles were in their essence
decade just beginning life was full of fun
Grandmother long widowed
with no other one
lived with brother Tommy  no one else did seek
near John Lennon airport formerly known as ,Speke,

Turn in your grave lovely grandmother
you and Tommy not forgotten
though your bodies are now long dead and rotten
i cut your long neglected garden in nineteen sixty eight
Linner road was different in its stifled wait

Eccentric you may have been but i understood well
love in your heart was all you had to tell
and this poems crap just like your life
of trouble and so much strife
you and Dave your husband who took you for his wife

Shanklys dead Grandmas gone
and Liverpools and Rowdy Yeatses Jersys
in the mersey
drowned
with no sound
