Reminiscent

I though about us today
I thought of our past and how I believed whole heartedly that we would last
I thought of the sweet memories that brought many smiles to my face
The moments we said one another could never be replaced
As I thought of us today I became sad
Thinking.....always reflecting back on the past
Our happy moments were made there and now those moments we will stay there and we no longer share
As I thought of us today, I thought about how we argue and fight
Day in and day out
So why are we still together?
What are we holding on to?
Bruised hearts and shattered promises?

They say when you love it let it go and we've been there plenty of times
We're so confused we can't make up our minds
I asked what we're holding on to,
And the answer is this; bruised hearts, broken promises, and to love which is never perfect but always worth it
