Way Of The World

Before you throw this year away  
recalling all the strife and gloom  
one thing that I must say  
I hope you can find the room  
  
For my brother who feels left out  
like dark days are all he's got  
and the life he is working is all wrong  
going against all he was well taught  
  
The sister who still feels  
the pangs of discrimination  
over one hundred years since Civil War  
yet still feels like a plantation  
  
Or anyone who has lost so much  
and no one wants to get real  
please don't doubt my sincere sentiment  
because I am bringing the real deal  
  
I am grateful for the words passed on  
our own sense of a special community  
not based as so many on exclusion  
sometimes this is the best place to be  
  
More then one writer I feel linked to  
would love the chance to meet in person and relate  
such beautiful spirits these poets  
each and every one of you is great  
  
I won't dare try to mention all names  
especially now with youngsters on the scene  
but you can bet if I was the great decider  
you would always be on my team  
  
So as Winter's chill grows colder  
think of the peace offering of a dove  
may 2013 be blissful for you  
the wish from your brother is love
