Do you consider yourself alive?
Do you consider yourself alive?
Muttering misplaced definitions stifle sighs,
as they wander across midnight skies.
They’re keenly searching for meaning;
while constantly peering over skeletal shoulders.
Everyone rational discerns she's elusive as death,
before spontaneously snapping necks in two.
Have you realized yet that we have no soul?
You thoughtlessly follow the tides,
drifting face down on the surface: asphyxiated.
Birds are caged in heavens restrictions,
only as free as the realms of understanding we cling to.
Words of the long gone are imprinted
gold on your decisions.
They rank first in that hierarchy of opinions
you keep in the center of your minds trophy case.
How long has it been since you breathed?
Do the torrents of waters creep up on you,
swallowing your imaginary cries of protest?
Lips are the colour of the ocean.
Eyes the colour of the clouds.
Do you really consider yourself alive now?
