How Aiden Was Lost (Spoken Word)

How Ayden Was Lost

His hurt cries echoed softly against the hollow space
Tears; swallow, taste - salty on this child's hallow face
No answer, he was alone in this wilderness state
Had long ago left his home with a vigorous gait
"Ma-ma, ma-ma!" Yelled in anguish, he had an owie
The drama! Pain! Hurt! He felt so sad and drowsy
He had fallen, tripped on a rock, slipped and then dropped
The skin around his tiny toe split and it throbbed
The ficklest thud, then a miniscule trickle of blood
Broke the spirits of our two year old littlest stud
With no parent to provide rehabilitation
Passage of time was the sole path to stabilization
Endeavor without mom, couldn't have a temper and pout
Wanted to return home, though unable to remember the route
He quit whining, brushed off his overalls and stood
And waywardly wandered even farther in the woods
-------------------------------------------------------------------
He kept moving onward, bobbing; nearly conquered walking
Muttering nonsense in noisy, awkward talking
Throwing handfuls of some unidentified kind of powder
Above, empty liquor bottles neatly lined the counter
His neglectful mother slept in a drunken stupor
Off something super, even a bunch of shooters
and a dozen roosters wouldn't have shook her slumber
Now, the boy falsified counting in a book of numbers
See, not all fun was sapped from his original toys
But denied objects are more appealing to criminal boys
Hours long past since mom had paid him any attention
Since then, he made messes, much too many to mention
The dwelling was disgusting, food bits flung floor to wall
Goods and items sprawled, looking like the site of forty brawls
You couldn't blame her, the mother was mentally disturbed
The director of fate stated she was meant to be perturbed
Mom rolled, retched, then vomited upon herself, the poor slob
As her happy little boy reached up and turned the door knob
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Recently coddled, he dawdled across the spotless kitchen
Hell bent on causing chaos, childlike nature; got his mission
Cameron's mother was on the phone, receiving news
Stomach in knots, the words brought her to grieving blues
Couldn't believe it's true, her cries echoed in hollow space
Tears; swallow, taste - salty on this woman's hallow face
No answer, the other line was at a loss for words
In their small town, big news like this wasn't often heard
"No, no, no, no!" Yelled in anguish, life was bad and lousy
The drama! Pain! Hurt! She felt so sad and drowsy
He had crashed, tar and cement, deadly far as it went
The skin around his skull split in a car accident
His motorcycle destroyed, the man a dittoed statement
Broke the spirits of our freshly widowed matron
With no strong soul to provide rehabilitation
Substances were the sole path to stabilization
Can't endeavor without, mom lost in the center of doubt
Wanted normalcy, though unable to remember the route
She kept bawling, mind gone, like a martyr she fell
And waywardly wandered even farther in hell
She kept moving, bobbing; nearly conquered walking
Muttering nonsense in noisy, awkward talking
No regard for her child as the sullen maiden cried
Cam was out of focus since his father, Ayden, died
