Water

Warm water
is always
welcome by me,
bringing me small comfort
after those days long an black,
submerge myself
in a scalding curtain
enveloping me
warming my core
turning me new

I turn around
and the water's grown frigid
halts my breath
makes my skin cringe,
tightness builds in my chest
paralyzed
I can't back away
gripped by the waterfall
so I've grown cold
like everyone else
and add my name to the wall
