Quiet and tender poem. I like this line: "with that human warmth/the smell of skin and sex." That was so unabashedly erotic. I could really imagine the narrator brushing up against the warm, sweaty skin of his lover. Also the phrases "detox substitute" and "placebo effect" were clever ways to describe the alternatives to sex, which we all look for in vain. Nothing beats the thrill of lust, it seems.

i wanted it to be tender.. and it is melancholy i had the verse in mind from pxdx "i see everything sour before its ripe" then "tomorrow she'll get on that plane and disappear" I was going to call the poem "seeing death before birth" but i thought it too long and gaudy precursor to you know whats going down in september seemed well enough.. yeah nothing like the real mccoy

Brief, honest, gentle...and kind of solemn. You get a sense that there's miles of unspoken meaning and importance behind each word, so that despite being short, this poem carries so much weight. And I think it was right to choose that short title instead of something more wordy, just like the poem, it's beautifully succinct. <3

beautifully succinct.. i like that.. yeah I'm glad I went with the shorter title though it doesn't tell the whole story.. but I guess the poem does the rest of the work.. I hope.. glad you like it <3
