Contagion
I am the skeleton key,
I'm everything you want me to be.
I fit in every lock,
And open every door.
I am the cold blooded,
Adaptation at its finest,
I thrive in every habitat,
And flourish in any climate.
I am the temptation,
Every deviant sin.
The binding strung between us,
And what's binding you within.
I am the filler that finds the fault,
And the onset of infection.
Everything you have longed for,
I am poisonous deception.
I am the embodiment of empathy,
See how I sympathize.
So eager just to trust me,
But my words are my disguise.
I slither, unnoticed amongst the ranks,
I'm that shiver that quivers in your flanks.
I reek of a wound turned septic.
And I strike when you least expect it.
I wear a mask of mirrors,
To lure you deeper,
To draw you nearer,
Finders,
Keepers.
Into the snare,
The smile turned sneer
Tread lightly, take care,
for I know what you fear.
You fear the unknown,
That which you cannot see.
You have no reason to fear though,
Because all of you know me.
