The Night Before

Hey Lisa, how do you get hooked up with lemon men?
Every time we talk it's happening again
And now you're riding one who is already married
Forgotten his promise till he's dead and buried
Lisa, don't you want a man of your own?

I have experienced the quandary you now feel
A damsel sought undercover love she could steal
Surprised was I to see a couple in the paper today
A photograph captured on her white wedding day
Confidentially with me the night before

Forgive me if this isn't what you want to hear
But to see you married is my deepest fear
If the only way to have you for the rest of my life
Is behind the back of my unknowing wife
I'd deceive a maiden and be married

another lost poem I found in my discarded files.
I have no idea why this was in there.
