Halcyon Eschaton
Let’s close this door and open another
Nothing left but what was feared from the start
What was near and nigh, coming for us full force
An ending of sorts, but no woe in our hearts
All the ideas of annihilation clouding our heads
Ones of pure nature, or pure humanity
Were all a bit off, for the reality of this day is unexpected
Something never considered, but it’s too late to understand
For the matter around us is warping and splitting
What mattered before doesn’t as much now
Our past is close, so close we can watch it in slow motion
And are futures are dark as night and bright as day
Those who run away will break down, turn into dust
And cease to exist here or anywhere else
But those who accept their fate will finally find the meaning
To why we were here, and what exactly comes after
So hold your breath and count to ten as the time stops
Close your eyes as the sky prepares for a final sundown
Listen to the wind blow one last time before it disappears
And embrace weightlessness, lighter than air, because you are
Before you know it, this day will be done and over
Along with every other after it, and everything in them
But this so long and farewell to it all will be remembered fondly
As a halcyon eschaton, nothing more, nothing less
