Reunion
(Sequal to Scarlet)
He has waited
Every step she has taken
Is a slow falling grain of sand
Through this unrelenting hourglass
Each rise and fall of her breathing
Is the changing of the tide
Every night she falls into the sanctuary of slumber
Another torturous moon has gone by
His heart strings are stretched out
Fine tuned for her playing
This cruel game they yield to
A visage of a vindictive villain
To the virtuous victim
To come to this long awaited surrender
This little doe has relinquished
Her burden of power
Under this predators unrelenting gaze
Onyx on silver
A thousand words fall like a mist
Clinging to them
Yet not a whisper sounds
Nothing dares move
The elements hold their ancestral breath
An immortal moment
Time moves again
As the distance is remedied
As he crosses boundless bridges
To his rightful place at her side
Trembling fingers
Trembling hearts
Flames amidst his searching hands
Descending tears and leaves
She is all around him Invading his senses
To smell her
To have her
To hold her
“Be mine”
The softly spoken plea
That weakens her knees
“always”
Strangers no more…
