Scarlet

She’s walking the ancient paths
Stained into the palms of her hands
 Echoing lifetimes past
Cobbled with autumnal leaves
That mirror the colour of her hair
She knows too well her feet have betrayed her
Leading her back the Touble’s door once again
The trees breathe her name
They never forget
The child that had stumbled
In this sure footed woman’s place
A wind stirs the pages of her mind
To times left buried in doubt
She crosses her arms over
Like a fallen warrior
Wrapping the scarlet shroud closer
The velvet as red as blood
Against skin as white as snow
He can see her silent like the moon
The silver flash of her eyes
Alluring wolfs bane…

(This poem has a sequal called Reunion that will be posted shortly. Very loosely based on Little Red Riding Hood)
