Where is Love?
Searching for love
But where is it?
Could it be under a rock?
Or perhaps beneath the sand
On some tropical beach in Tahiti
Where X marks the spot.
Is it in the sea?
Inside some sunken ship,
Guarded by a squid or shark.
How about atop a mountain?
Snow covered
Surrounded by steep, icy slopes.
Or maybe it's deep inside a cave,
Cloaked in the darkness
Waiting silently to be found.
Could it be at the end of a rainbow?
Bathed in shimmering light
But only to appear on rainy days.
So I search high and low,
Far and wide,
Here and there
But I can't find my love anywhere.
Why is this so hard?
So abstract?
Can't it be easier?
Much less of a game?
Can you give me a treasure map?
Or make this more like a scavenger hunt?
Give me some clues?
Show me a sign?
Or some signal in the sky?
But no aid shall transpire at my side
So I have to search for this love ever so blindly
Feeling my way through the dark
But there's something they don't tell you,
You can't read in a book or manual.
Love cannot be found,
Love is not some object hidden in the world around us
Instead it is a thing we ourselves must create
Deep beneath our own chests.
