Sculpturesque
You wanted to hear of the sturdiest mountains
that will not quiver to quaking earth
and contain great oaks that dismiss hurricanes.
I told you I was the rock that never weathered
with sunlit peaks that guide ospreys home
to hungry, prodigal princes of the sky, awaiting -
but I lied when I told you I'll not be shaken.
In honesty I've crumbled and rolled to rubble
though the rocks can be reassembled.
You now hear of the weakness of mountains
that cannot stand still as the earth cracks
containing great oaks that dance with the wind.
You tell me there is no beauty in things
frequent and immortal
beauty must possess the essence to perish
in order to be treasured.
I sculptured you a heart of rock to be smashed
and reassembled.
You welcome me into your womb and up
and I welcome you to sculpt a man, a flaw,
a me.
