Graceful Letting Go of the Sunrise

Watching the flower in her braids wither
smothered my conscience; the concept of time
altered as she lay on the bed filled with decades
of sunrise and rainfalls;
The years of reverie and reverence for the immortals,
gods, ghosts, and heretics vaporized with every faint air she breathed in.
Suddenly, the skeptical rose in rhythm with the falling and swelling of her chest.
Unlike the pathetic failure of royalties, gentries, and the commons
to comply with the sweet summoning,
You, my naive old sage, have shown me the path
that has led me to the drooling creek of courage
to bask in the morning light without craving for more,
Graceful letting go of the sunrise!
