Iron & Wine
Dark shadowed among the thorns
The petals blush
We all seek our wounds
Draw blood and are bloodied
Roses are red
Like passion and anger
You and I
Iron and wine
Dust clouds the sun
The moon in her phases
The stars
Dust is all we are
"Ashes to ashes, dust to dust..."
But life
Life is in the blood
Make me bleed that I might believe
In love
I love you best when my love is unfettered
Raw and raging
Swearing oaths in waves coiling
Breaking
Lashing shores parched of storms
Unyielding
Unchanging
In the soft passing of showers
Adamant to all save crashing of the waves
Crumble
And I would leave you drenched
Wet
Crumpled in the sheets
Gasping breath
Grasping me
Among the welts and bloody scratches of need
Love too leaves its bruises
Hoarse whispers
Cursed through damp ringlets and tangled hair
Lost in heat shattered need
Make me bleed
The petals blush
We all seek our wounds
Draw blood and are bloodied
Roses are red
Like passion and anger
You and I
Iron and wine
Dust clouds the sun
The moon in her phases
The stars
Dust is all we are
"Ashes to ashes, dust to dust..."
But life
Life is in the blood
Make me bleed that I might believe
In love
I love you best when my love is unfettered
Raw and raging
Swearing oaths in waves coiling
Breaking
Lashing shores parched of storms
Unyielding
Unchanging
In the soft passing of showers
Adamant to all save crashing of the waves
Crumble
And I would leave you drenched
Wet
Crumpled in the sheets
Gasping breath
Grasping me
Among the welts and bloody scratches of need
Love too leaves its bruises
Hoarse whispers
Cursed through damp ringlets and tangled hair
Lost in heat shattered need
Make me bleed
