Day
Tis with but the faintest light that dawn awakens from the night
I have loved in the awkward unknowing of schools
The poise too chaste for near at church
Loved in heights and depths
Loved in pain and joy
Love masquerading in all of these
I have loved
I have loved through the thankless toil of hours
The empty, long nights of bone white stars
And dark
Through brokenness and broken down
At way stations of lonely crossroad places
I have loved
*
I would love
In tune with the infinite
Beyond ordinary measure
Which so shapes worlds
Like sunset christenings
Of lucid dreams
Touch me
My soul
Across the breadth of space
Bring into focus the vignette of us
As all else fades in disarray
Out of focus
Out of phase
From certain need or view
Incense clouding flickering light
Burned low
As candle wax pools
Within the lay of shadowed room
Among old books and self made art
Rich gold of pine wood floors
Cushioned with me
Among pillows and throws
Reading Cummings or Browning
Or word craft your own
I would love
I would love
Your body lush as my dreaming
Bedewed
Voice sweet poetry beckoning
To fall beneath ethereal art of spell
Your presence bears
My chest soft robed in coils of your hair
As I hold you precious
Hold you near
Who gives life to distant light of stars
And fades the candle's flame to dim
Incandescent
Fire, your breath upon my skin
As your body consumes my own
Enamoured spirits entwined
Of such poetry let be my life
If to but find you
You
I would love
