The Nearness of You

It’s not the pale moon that excites me so,
Nor stars above with their gentle glow.
It’s not the charm of a soft spoken word,
But the nearness of you where my soul is stirred.
When you’re in my arms, so close and near,
The world fades away, there’s nothing to fear.
All of my dreams, the wild and true,
Come alive in the nearness of you.
It’s not enchantment or fleeting delight,
But the dream of someday holding you every night.
To feel your warmth, to know your embrace,
To sense your nearness in time and space.
Baby, it’s you… it’s always been you,
In the nearness of you, my heart always knew.
