Ode to incarcerated friends

Long have I lived and longer I intend to  
as finite my quest peers where peeks  
mountainous viral embrace  
where ever I lay my eyes  
   
starting my day with a personal blessing  
that I use each morning no longer a loner to prayer  
not to dethrone any path nor faith  
I have unnamed it from any higher plane  
   
realising I am free to chose my words  
bestowing all singular angles where beauty  
is water we drink and reflect  
I lay upon these streams  
   
his voice through the receiver  
nasal fluttering where I detect    
a tear in his laughter  
he is the biggest jest I know of  
I video vist we speak random facts  
film and book titles  
his latest impersonation  
was a turtle  
we laugh until the screen  
falls into its slot  
   
another and another  
it became a river  
often I was moved  
beyond extent  
   
their stories grotesque gargoyles  
yes there are reasons  
as to why and how they  
were shaped that way  
   
when I saw the white carton  
with drawing I was pinpricked  
as by lightning  
   
how fortunate I am  
how extinguished simplicity  
has become
