I Trusted You

At what point
Do you cut
A person off?
At what point,
Do you stop,
Fixing their mistakes?
At what point,
Do you stop
Bailing them out?
I trusted you.

I threw myself in,
To your tangled mess,
Stood by you unwaveringly.
Put my name to
A legally binding contract
Certain they were lying,
Certain you were honest,
Put my name in
The system so you
Could live your life.

How stupid do I look?
Standing by you, a recidivist.
Repeat offender, yes, criminal? Maybe.
Sex offender? Never, I thought.
You swore to me, promised,
You were innocent, upon release.
I defended one of those,
That ruined me, years ago.
Because you pleaded misunderstanding, again.
I trusted you, implicitly, stupidly.

My name is in the system,
Right next to your name
And now I'm panicking,
Because I never thought you were the same.
Wondering how far reaching implications can be.
I defended you, threw in my two cents.
And now I'm asking, wondering,
Hoping that I won't be called upon again.
I trusted you, fiercely stood in your corner,
Now, you're dead to me, cheating, lying marauder.
