The Sins of the Flesh
Behold the works of flesh, so raw, so base,
A mirror to the soul’s corrupted face.
Adultery whispers with a velvet tongue,
A bond once sacred now by passion flung.
Fornication prowls in shadow’s lure,
Promises pleasures that never endure.
Unclean hands reach for what is profane,
Leaving behind a soul steeped in stain.
Lasciviousness dances in wanton guise,
Alluring the heart with deceitful lies.
Idolatry crowns false gods with gold,
Worshipping emptiness, the spirit grows cold.
Witchcraft’s charm bends the will to sway,
The art of darkness, leading astray.
Hatred festers in the heart’s deep core,
Fueling the fire that peace abhors.
Variance severs, dividing kin,
While emulations thrive in envy’s sin.
Wrath ignites, a tempest unbound,
Strife takes root where discord is found.
Seditions murmur, kingdoms they break,
Heresies rise, the truth they forsake.
Envy consumes, a serpent’s delight,
Poisoning joy with a venomous bite.
Murders lurk in the shadowed mind,
Their blade strikes swift, their vengeance blind.
Drunkenness reels in a stupor’s embrace,
Revelry mocks in its fleeting chase.
Oh mortal soul, bewitched by flesh’s wiles,
Chasing a glory that beguiles.
Yet beyond these sins, a hope may gleam,
For mercy flows in redemption’s stream.
Turn from the works that the flesh beguile,
And find the grace in a life reconciled.
