I'm No Superhero.
I dog you like the secret service,
but I'm not going for that.
If you even noticed I was there,
I might stop coming back.
I wrote you a hundred letters,
in that box under my bed.
Even if I'd had the stamps,
I don't think they'd have been sent.
I don't mean to be your shadow,
but I like the look of you.
I was right outside your house that time,
that time your daddy choked you.
I didn't have the courage,
never even spoke your name.
But you ran right past me that night,
out and into the rain.
I have to say, it's been years.
You know I'm always just nextdoor....
If you ever need a place to crash,
you take the bed, I'll take the floor.
And now that we're speaking,
for the first time, it seems.
Your eyes are beautiful,
the perfect shade of green....
but I'm not going for that.
If you even noticed I was there,
I might stop coming back.
I wrote you a hundred letters,
in that box under my bed.
Even if I'd had the stamps,
I don't think they'd have been sent.
