The Coming Dark

In the hushed sanctuary of her childhood room, she gazed at their crude joining,
Knowing the bodies and emotions behind their dance would one day fold in silence.

Yet in that fleeting breath, they sparkled with a fierce light against the coming dark.

Author's Note
Prompted by memories of my first time with a girl and imagining it through her eyes. It happened in the bedroom where she grew up. Sadly, she died a couple of years ago and her parents had the viewing in their home where she'd grown up.  Here's a link to a more graphic description.
