Image for the poem Four Walls

Four Walls

Work on those cracks, repair their wounds
Coat the walls with plaster and caring words
Smooth out the surface in warmth and delicacy
Let them dry, heal from life’s agony
Finish off with tender paint
Is it really that hard?
I’m no construction worker
Yet I know it isn’t, I’ll take the trowel
And show how another four walls
Have solace in their bumps
