De Novo
It was like the world didn't exist,
Or maybe it slowed,
Or maybe it blurred,
Or maybe it was flying by,
but, I was anchored still.
No, not just the world,
I think the universe stopped moving.
I think it all simultaneously seized to exist.
I think maybe there were silent fireworks
somewhere in the distance.
When we closed our eyes:
Maybe we were floating
Maybe we were free diving
Maybe gravity lost its meaning
...for a little while.
All the fear disappeared,
It was like my body didn't exist.
It was like what it must feel to be immortal.
It was like a vibrational humm of magnets
filled my ears.
And upon separation, a moment of
"...what just happened?"
crossed our faces.
Defining it is as hard as describing the color of sapphire to a blind man, but it existed.
Then, it was gone the next minute.
Or maybe it slowed,
Or maybe it blurred,
Or maybe it was flying by,
but, I was anchored still.
No, not just the world,
I think the universe stopped moving.
I think it all simultaneously seized to exist.
