Like a Mummy

Like a mummy, remove my core,
desiccate me with natron to dry my depths,
so I stay composed, wrapped neatly with linen,
shielded with resin against scrutiny.

Kept in a tomb within my mind,
sleeping with waning remnants of my hopes,
meticulously crafted expectations,
beautifully decorated as hieroglyphs,
safeguarding my vulnerable, hollow corpse,
just like a mummy.
