52-Hertz

Stiffly standing there
An invisible being
Seeking solace in seclusion
Corralled by people, instead

A shadow of a smile
Fixed on its expression
Thinking it looks equable
Yet, feels uneasy

Faintly uttered words
Escape its lips
Making their way to them
Only to skim by, like a ghost

They glance through its presence, unseeing
They speak in tones, indifferently
They move around, oblivious to its form
Their attention floats by, uncaring

Its eyes wander awkwardly
Its heart beats frantically
Its skin shivers in the stillness of the void
Its feelings echo through veils of solitude

So, it retreats into itself
Cocooned in the shell of invisibility
Barely existing, hardly remembered
Scarcely wanted, always excluded

In the silence, it finds its home
A realm of its own
Where it finds peace
Within the mind of its own
