Fluency disorder; an idiomatic square peg in a round hole    
     
As a child I was the social outcast    
Ugh Ugly is a stuttering duckling      
Cruelty dealt when verbally harassed    
As circling childhood vultures are chuckling    
     
Where and why is such behavior learned?    
Innate to survival of the fittest?    
Loneliness befriends one who is spurned    
Unrelentingly teased as queerest  
     
My youth in social isolation upon a stranded icy island    
…kept me    
     
Then a vision of you came into view    
Conversing these phonetic obstacles    
Verbalizing the words I’m stumbling through    
Your smile melting my wordy icicles    
     
Your ears saw beyond my childhood stutter    
Time is a defined space worthy a soul    
Your eyes heard my anxious heart aflutter    
Space is a defined time heartfelt and whole    
     
My words were shuffled in complexity    
My syllables; you gave time and honor    
Your beauty effervescent and witty      
Giving my life new reasons to ponder    
     
Take my hand…    
 and walk with me into this starlight    
     
Time is the prerogative of the stars    
Polaris of truth while Sirius shines    
A heavenly space so boundlessly ours    
Alignment of our constellation twines    
   
Speaking my best in the language of song  
Singing this feeling; with you I belong
