What is in a Day?

What is in a day?
Present,
Or past tense.
We collect them,
one by one,
until our days
are done.
We laugh
and cry.
And hold those
that are precious
against our chest.
Each new day,
each new year,
each new decade.
We grow
and change,
becoming who
be wanted to become
or who we never
thought we would be.
The tears you saved
and the tears you gave.
At the end of the day:
What is left,
what remains
is the difference you made.

Author's Note
I couldn't help but think of this earlier and found myself asking "Why is this day any different than the rest?"...and thoughtfully realized it isn't. Every day is an opportunity to love, live, hurt, and to breathe.

We are too spoiled to see how lucky we are, regardless of the calendar day, even on the crap ones. Lessons are learned in a calendar day.
