Memories

You told me you forgot,
How does that feel?

I remember everything,
From the tears in your eyes,
To how you looked with blood on your sleeves.

I’m happy you can forget,
How does one forget?

I remember you screaming,
Can you still hear it?

Can you still make that noise?

I sit awake at night,
While you grasp onto remnants of nightmares.

I suffer like you,

But I suffer with my eyes open.

What else have you forgotten?
Don’t worry,
I won’t refresh your memory.

I remember how you cried when you told me,

I never see you cry anymore.

I hear it,
When you’re curled up in bed with your back against a wall.

I wish you remembered the tears when you woke up,

I wish you remembered I can’t forget,

I wish we didn’t have to forget.
