Twisted Dreamer
This is the tale,
Of the one they call the "Twisted Dreamer"
She looks just like one of us.
Her hair long,
Blonde on the top,
Auburn on the bottom.
Normal height,
Normal dress,
She seemed completely normal.
But nobody knew.
Nobody knew just went on in that pretty little head of hers.
She could seem as normal as she wanted during the day,
But at night,
Things changed.
Everything in her dreams was caused by her.
Never would she kill anything in real life,
But when she dreamed,
Everything had changed.
Dead bodies entwined together,
Decapitated bodies,
Their heads never found.
Organs completely surrounded her.
In her hand she found the tool of choice,
A blood-soaked axe,
That stained her hand red.
The blood of the innocent was all around her,
Covering the streets,
Painting her white lace dress crimson.
Her head spinning from the putrid smell of decaying flesh.
What could she do to stop this horror?
She didn't know.
She would awake in a sweat,
Shrieks emanating from her lips.
She didn't understand why this was happening to her.
One night,
She awoke after her dream.
After she had become accustomed to what happened,
She silently got out of her bed,
Pushing her linen covers from her body,
Not making a sound.
She tip-toed her way through the silent house,
Careful as to not awake anyone.
She went down the stairs,
And across the living room.
Into the kitchen she silently walked.
She opened the drawer that contained the knives,
Selecting the sharpest blade she could find.
Down to the basement,
Is where she went,
With blade, pencil, and paper in hand.
She sat down the blade on the desk in the far corner,
And proceeded to write;
"Nothing bad will happen,
Now that I'm gone.
I'm a menace,
I'm insane.
Goodbye.
Signed,
The Twisted Dreamer"
She sat the note upon the staircase,
And walked back to her knife.
Slowly she pushed the blade into her chest,
Holding back each whimper or cry.
She kept pushing until the handle met her skin,
Then she pulled the blade back out.
She then placed the knife upon her arm,
And neatly she carved her name,
"Twisted Dreamer"
She smiled,
Knowing that she had saved herself from torment.
She slowly faded into the darkness,
Still smiling.
She was near dead before she uttered,
"I'll miss you all. Have fun without me."
Nobody knew.
Nobody cared.
She was happy it was all over.
