Sun Queen

Sun Queen

Oriental slant of her eyes
Gazes into corner of Parisian salon
As she reclines in baroque beauty
Upon arm rest of divan
Her scarlet tresses halo the regal velvet
With the radiance of a sun queen
Whose majesty rules over supplicant hearts
Conjuring designs on susceptible gents
With wit sharp as the scimitars
Of her eyebrows etched in fire
A single finger on her cheek bone
With thumb on chin
Far from a pawn in the chess match
That plays in her satirical theater
That with one word disarms suitors
Who succumb to her brash charm
like sugar cubes
that melt on her tongued irony
