Symmetry
Would it not be
A lovely symmetry
The first half of my life spent learning
And now the second to be free?
And pass what wisdom I have learned
On in the places I have earned
Never to preach, but sometimes teach
Is that a new place I can reach?
And see the viewpoints of each other
Each one a human sister, brother
Each one a student and a teacher
And none insufferable preacher
This is what I will try to be
Within not knowing being free
Never to turn, never to flee
From the things that I think and feel
Truth is my altar, and I kneel
And bow my head its light to see
Create a lovely symmetry
A lovely symmetry
The first half of my life spent learning
And now the second to be free?
And pass what wisdom I have learned
On in the places I have earned
Never to preach, but sometimes teach
Is that a new place I can reach?
And see the viewpoints of each other
Each one a human sister, brother
Each one a student and a teacher
And none insufferable preacher
This is what I will try to be
Within not knowing being free
Never to turn, never to flee
From the things that I think and feel
Truth is my altar, and I kneel
And bow my head its light to see
Create a lovely symmetry
