Bitter fruit often rots from the inside, though, and leave you with nothing but a pretty shell and withered flesh. But hey, I'm an optimist!

first blush  ——->bitter ripens into something worse.  she’s worth picking ——> somehow ‘feels’ calculated & usurious.  

but, i’ve read several of your poems, enjoyed them,  never felt you’re the Wolf to her Red Riding.  so now i’m confused….
