The New Death Song

He cried out heplessly
I can't breathe!
I don't want to die!
help me, please!

They stood by
watching
some silent
some pleading.

Let him go
he did no wrong!
I can't breathe
became a death song.

I just want to go home
what's my crime?
Can you please call my mother
so I can say goodbye?

He cried out hopelessly
I can't breathe!
as his life drifted away
under the deadly knees.

They only laughed
mockingly
ignoring him
his life didn't matter.

He doesn't belong
in this hate-filled world
so God took him back
now he has become a martyr.

Black lives matter
now our song of hope
I can't breathe
the new death song.
