White Noise

The mask      c  r a c  k s
A little more
            with each stark
       de*part*ure
Despite promises
                to      remain
They    f  a  d  e
Best
    to simply
                   turn away
Scream
             into unending
         darkness
Unable to
            smother
         the
                 drums
Muffle
        the inevitable        sound
Clicking
                  into waiting
          silence
As farewell
            closes another door
Leaving this mournful presence
