Early Settlers

It was done from afar
an' done real well
and the dogs had their fill
when those beasties fell
they were sore perplexed
couldn't understand, see,
how we could throw blows.
'twere a mystery.

Well, they're all gone
from round here, at least,
an it sure we're a shame
for those pale skinned beasts
who stood like men
grunted summat like too,
but couldn't understand
when arrows punched through.

I worked on the premise that Neanderthal did not have the bow & arrow and that our first meetings were between black people, us, and white folk, them.
