Monsters

Our monsters no longer wear a uniform,
no, they rarely look out of norm
our monsters are no longer a certain race
now, our monsters share a common face
our monsters no longer live amongst sand and caves
now our monsters are ones we once saved
our monsters are we
and our monsters now long to be free.

Author's Note
Throughout history we've been able to identify our monsters through uniform or race or whatever, until we realized our monsters are us and they just want to be set free. Who watches the watchdogs?
