I Remember
I Remember
I remember holding you
on this rock beside the sea.
Holding you within my arms
as you sat upon my knees.
Then I would let you down
and you would run across the sand
picking up the seashells.
You always thought they were so grand.
Soon Mommy would come join us
and you would show us your new prize.
You would ask us where they came from
with bewilderment in your eyes.
We would tell you as you sat with us
listening to what we said
and then you would return to the beach
for more treasure up ahead.
It has been some time now
since you were that little boy.
Time can take those moments
but not the memories and joy.
We will always have those warm pictures
of you within our hearts.
Though you are now in heaven
we will never be apart.
