We always
claim how
our minds
cannot
fathom all
this impact,
but nobody
wishes to
imagine
yellow-bellied
flesh caught
underneath
unforgiving
pale stars.

I must admit I took this one as a bit of a metaphor for the self, however that’s only my interpretation on reading it.
At the beginning you talk of the mind; how it kind of transcends into this beautiful space imagery, and that kind of echoes the expanse of the brain space.
When you go on to say that nobody wants to imagine yellow-bellied flesh under pale forgiving stars, I took that as a description of the physical. Everybody struggles with what is real. Nobody wants to face it these days, whether it’s ourselves, or I could even go as far as saying that this could apply to social media also. All that air brushing. Nobody wants to face the truth.
I just took this whole piece as such an interesting commentary, applicable to many different scenarios.
Thank you for sharing it, it was exactly the kind of quality I’ve come to expect from you. All impact. No faff.
