Image for the poem The Shepherd

The Shepherd's Quill

Touched by the breath of nature
in silence with the moon's lantern
blowing the autumn winds
clinging to the air

with secrets in the fading leaves
as if the soul soars like an eagle
with the whitening of the wings
calling from the graves

the amorous cries
of the withering rose
as stem and thorn grow old
scribing to the shepherd's quill
